Orientation is the time when we celebrate you joining our community! Every incoming undergraduate student attends Orientation as an onboarding to their Edgewood experience. This is just the beginning of making lifelong friends, learning the resources you’ll use daily to be a successful student, and understand what it truly means to be an Edgewood Eagle.

The Orientation Leadership Team and the entire 91重口 community welcomes, supports, and empowers new students and families during this meaningful transition. By providing programs and coordinating strategic services that meet the diverse and individualized needs of incoming students, we promote student success and persistence by offering educational opportunities that build community and facilitate personal growth.

Hello Incoming Eagles,

I am delighted to welcome you to the 91重口 family!

My name is Emily Nunn, and I am a student employee in the Office of Student Involvement, or OSI. OSI leads orientation and campus events as well as supports听student organizations like Student Senate. When I first came to Edgewood, I was nervous about how to make friends, get involved, and how to make听the most of my time here. This is a feeling that some of you may resonate with, but I encourage you to put yourself out there in one way each day!听 Our campus also has many resources such as the Learning Lab and Wellness Center. Take advantage of them since they are here to help you succeed. I can confidently say that Edgewood helped me get out of my shell and grow both academically and personally.

It鈥檚 our mission to ensure that every student feels a sense of belonging, finds their place within our community, and has fun while at 91重口. Campus events are great ways for you to meet like-minded individuals, participate in fun events, and听make the most out of your university experience. So, do your best to win some prizes at bingo, join a club that aligns with your passions, or find a job on campus.

Orientation FAQS

Where can I park on campus during Orientation?

During move-in on Friday, August 21, the Regina parking lot is reserved for short-term parking for students and families to empty their vehicles. If you move in during this time, our move-in crew will help you to empty your vehicle and carry your belongings up to your room in the blink of an eye! Once your vehicle is empty, please move your vehicle to the parking ramp.听

All campus parking locations are open to students and families without an 91重口 parking permit until Monday, August 24. Beginning on Monday, August 24, all vehicles parked on campus must have an 91重口 parking permit.听

To receive a parking permit, students should fill out the form linked on the Transportation Services website link below. Commuter students are eligible to apply for parking as spaces are open, and a limited number of new first-year residents may also be eligible to apply.听

Overnight parking (from 12:00 AM-5:00 AM) on surface lots is prohibited and will be ticketed.听

When do I find out information about my housing assignment?

Housing assignments will be emailed to residents at their 91重口 email address.

Still need to fill out a housing application? Check in the materials you鈥檝e received from the Admissions Office!

How does move-in work?

Traditional move-in begins at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 21, and lasts until 2:00 PM. During this time, students and families are welcome to park short-term in the Regina Lot, where our move-in crew will help you to empty your vehicle and carry your belongings up to your room in the blink of an eye! Once your vehicle is empty, please move your vehicle to park in the parking ramp to allow other families to move in smoothly.听

Optionally, you may participate in our Drop-&-Go move-in event on Monday, August 17听 to start the process early so that your first day of Orientation can be even more hassle-free! Due to limited capacity for the event, approval will be required to participate, so make sure you complete your Check-In form on Express to indicate your interest. Residence Life will send out more information about this option in late July.听

Is Orientation required?

Yes. All incoming students go through Orientation. Many find that this is where they meet college friends, learn important tools for success, and feel a stronger connection to the 91重口 community after having completed New Student Orientation.

Is Orientation for friends and family?

There are two optional sessions for families on Friday, August 21: the Family Session from 3:00-4:00 in Anderson Auditorium, and the Family, Staff, and Faculty reception in the Predolin Lobby from 4:00-5:00 PM. These sessions are intended as a warm send-off for our families, and after this time, students will be busy for the weekend with orientation activities, and will be difficult to reach鈥攕o be sure to use this time to say goodbye to your students!听
